Mikhail Oskarovich Varshavski, Doctor Mike (russian: Михаил Варшавский) was born on November 12, 1989, in Saransk, in what was then the Mordovian ASSR of the Soviet Union. At the age of six, he and his family emigrated to the United States and settled in Brooklyn, New York.
He pursued higher education at the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), completing a combined track which led to a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences and a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree.
After his medical training, he began a residency in family medicine at Atlantic Health System’s Overlook Medical Center in New Jersey, which he completed around 2017.
While practising medicine, Varshavski also developed a substantial online presence. He gained attention through social media platforms and his YouTube channel, using them to communicate health information, debunk medical myths, and engage a broad audience.
In 2015, he was featured by major media outlets and given prominent recognition, which helped elevate his public profile.
In addition to his clinical and digital-engagement work, Dr. Mike is active in philanthropy. He founded the Limitless Tomorrow Foundation in 2015, aiming to provide scholarships and support for students in need.
During the global COVID-19 pandemic, he also donated significant supplies (for example, N95 masks) and used his platform to promote reliable health information.
Today, Doctor Mike continues to practise as a board-certified family medicine physician, while maintaining his role as a media-savvy educator, influencer in the health-communication space, speaker, and writer. His work spans clinical care, digital health education, public speaking, and philanthropy.
In 2016, he and Filipina actress and 2015 Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach met at a charity event in New York and started dating. He dated American television news reporter Jennifer Lahmers in 2017.
