Lia Marie Johnson (born November 23, 1996, in San Diego, California) is an American actress, singer, and internet personality. She was born into a military family and spent her early childhood moving frequently, including time in Wahiawa, Hawaii. In 2007, her mother created a YouTube channel to share her school and church performances, and by 2009 Lia was uploading her own vlogs, sketches, and music covers.
She gained her first major recognition in 2010 when she appeared in Kids React, a series by the Fine Brothers, which made her widely known online. In 2013 she joined AwesomenessTV and soon after took on the role of Terry the Tomboy, which led to the Nickelodeon TV film of the same name released in 2014. In 2015 she launched her music career with the single “Moment Like You,” and in 2016 she signed with Capitol Records. During this period she starred in the YouTube Premium film The Thinning and its 2018 sequel, as well as in the web drama series T@gged from 2016 to 2018.
After parting ways with Capitol Records, she continued to pursue music independently, releasing singles throughout the early 2020s. In 2024 she released her debut EP Pomegranate.
Johnson’s personal life has also drawn public attention. In January 2020 she experienced the loss of her partner, which had a profound effect on her. In 2023 she published a video titled “This Is My Story,” in which she spoke openly about her struggles with addiction, abuse, exploitation, and mental health challenges, including suicidal thoughts. Since then she has emphasized her journey toward recovery and sobriety.
